Game 1:
Despite the lopsided 16–1 final score, Penn State Hazleton did have a few bright spots worth noting.
At the plate, Tiffany Brogan led the way with a perfect 2-for-2 performance and accounted for the team's only RBI. Her biggest moment came in the third inning, when she delivered a clean single to left field that brought home Tamia Bruce for Hazleton's lone run of the game. Jada Khoun and Katelynn Frantz each added hits as well, helping Hazleton total four on the day—matching their most productive inning in the third when they broke through offensively.
In the circle, Brogan showed flashes despite the tough outing. She recorded five strikeouts over three innings, demonstrating the ability to miss bats even while facing constant pressure. Kourtney Sonntag added three more strikeouts in relief across two innings, giving Hazleton a combined eight strikeouts in the game.
While the result didn't go their way, Hazleton's highlights came from individual efforts. Brogan's production on both sides of the ball, contributions from Bruce, Khoun, and Frantz offensively, and a solid total of strikeouts from the pitching staff.
Game 2:
Penn State Hazleton showed early promise but couldn't sustain momentum in a 12–4 loss to Penn State Scranton.
Hazleton came out strong, jumping to a 2–0 lead in the first inning. Amber Kelly sparked the offense by scoring on a passed ball, and Mia Lied Solano followed with an RBI single to bring home Katelynn Frantz. The early advantage marked one of Hazleton's best stretches across both games, as they applied immediate pressure and capitalized on opportunities. The lead held briefly before Scranton responded, but Hazleton remained within striking distance through the middle innings.
Defensively, the team managed key outs to keep the game close early on, and Tiffany Brogan worked through traffic in the circle, striking out eight over seven innings while facing 37 batters. Hazleton's offense broke through again in the sixth inning with a two-run rally. Frantz delivered an RBI single to score Jada Khoun.
Amber Kelly stood out as a bright spot, scoring twice and adding a double, while Frantz contributed both a run and an RBI. Solano also drove in a run, and Rachel Sanchez chipped in with a hit as Hazleton totaled five on the game.
Despite those moments, Hazleton struggled to contain Scranton's offense late. A four-run seventh inning by Scranton put the game out of reach, with defensive miscues.
